Accreditation

What Is Accreditation?

Accreditation is the formal recognition granted by an independent organisation that a conformity assessment body (such as a certification body, inspection body or calibration laboratory) is competent to carry out specific tasks, and that it operates with impartiality, integrity and technical proficiency.

At UAB, our accreditation process provides assurance that the bodies we accredit have been evaluated against internationally-recognised standards and procedures, demonstrating they can consistently deliver reliable, impartial and compliant conformity assessment services.

Why Accreditation Matters

  • It enhances confidence in the competence of the organisation providing the service — showing that the accredited body has been evaluated for technical and organisational competence.
  • It supports the reliability and credibility of the results and services delivered by accredited bodies.
  • It helps regulators, buyers, and other stakeholders choose organisations whose services are subject to independent oversight.
  • It aligns with global best practices: accreditation provides assurance that the accreditation body itself meets international requirements (for example, those defined in the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) / International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) arrangements).
